Create a database

  1. Go to Databases and click to create a database.
  2. Choose Database Engine: PostgreSQL, MySQL, MariaDB, Redis or RabbitMQ.
  3. Database Configuration: enter a Database Name (or click Generate). The name becomes the actual database name, so it’s normalised to lowercase letters, digits and _: my-awesome-database becomes my_awesome_database.
  4. Instance & Storage: choose a Deployment Region close to your app, and a storage size.
  5. Click Create Database.

The success screen shows the connection string and password.

The database is usually ready within a minute. If the screen says it’s still starting, give it a moment.
